As I just recovered a friend's disk with corrupted partition table last weekend (he found a bug in Norton ghost the hard way ;-) ) I can say that ports/sysutils/gpart is an extremely helpful tool. It searches the whole disk for possible partitions and did a great job: it really found all of them. After recreating the appropriate entries in the partition tables including the extended ones, everything was back.
