I use the latex2html port (in textproc).  Works nicely.

Two TeX modules you might look at:

- thumbpdf - Generates PDF thumbnails

- hyperref - Embeded pdfmark commands
  http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/hyperref.html

I haven't tried either of these; hyperref appears to be part of the teTeX
distribution.
