I really must add my $.02 here. I would really hate to see the Voxware code
dropped, as I need it to take full advantage of my AWE 64. The awedrv package
(available from Randall Hopper's site at http://multiverse.com/~rhh/awedrv)
depends on the Voxware code, as it is essentially nothing but a number of
patches to same.

I can't see giving up a driver that gives me *full* access to all of my
soundcard's capabilities for one that provides only limited functionality.
IF the pcm driver supported MIDI/synth, I might feel differently (probably not,
actually, since I doubt it would ever support the AWE as well as awedrv), but I
feel this decision to toss the Voxware code is *way* premature.

I really don't understand the eagerness to drop Voxware at this point in time.
Is it simply for the lack of maintainer?
