Maybe it's more hardware related? I'm trying to install FreeBSD on my computer which uses an Asus A7V133 main board with onboard Promise RAID controller, configured in RAID 0 (and fully operational under Windows XP). I also have a CD-writer and a DVD, each connected to the one of the two IDE connectors of the VIA chipset. When I load the kernel from the FreeBSD CD, I receive the following message: ar0: 58623 MB (ATA RAID0 array> [7473/255/63] subdisks: ad4: 29311 MB [59554/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA100 ad4: 29311 MB [59554/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA100 (null) REQUEST_SENSE command timeout - resetting ata0: resetting devices The kernel does find the RAID0 array... but gives a timeout?
