Subject:   kernel configuration required for /dev/io?

	I am working on a port of a Linux program to download the DSP code for 
Digicom series modems. When I attempt to open /dev/io I get the error "Device not 
configured".  I have a /dev/io so I am wondering if I need to compile the kernel with 
an option/device to get io support. Any help would be appreciated...
