Hi,

Since 4.2 relase, I've been trying to install FreeBSD onto an old laptop I
have - Texas Intruments/Acer Extensa 510 (100MHz Pentium, 16MB RAM, approx
800MB HDD, NE2000 compatible PCMCIA network card).

During the install process, I always manage to get through happily to the
bit where I can configure my HDD - at this point the install program says
that it can't find any HDD and bails.

I have been able to install and run OpenBSD 2.9 - no problems. No tweaking
is needed (dmesg is attached below).

What do I need to do get my favourite OS on here? My suspicions lie with
the wdc/wd names for the HDD controller and drive - are these devices
still supported in the install for FreeBSD?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Happy to supply more info as
requested.

Thanks.

From,

Tim
