Ok, I cvsup'd, maked world, etc. Everything is up to the minute -current. Now 'rvplayer welcome.rm' displays the RealPlayer Window and the very first scene of the sequence. There is no sound. The rvplayer is running all out consuming CPU time: 289 brian 82 0 1924K 2236K RUN 31:05 81.10% 81.10% rvplayer but nothing is changing on the screen. I can use the location pointer to move about the sequence manually and the picture changes appropriately. When I hit the stop button I get a burst of hiss. If I hit start again, its get stuck at the first scene. If i hit stop I get the burst of hiss again, and so on. cat ring.au or whatever to /dev/audio does what I would expect. following is the output from cat /dev/sndstat. The all out running without doing anything seems vaguely reminiscient of a problem I ran into with qmail. When I upgraded to some version of -current I found qmail-send running all out but otherwise working. I recompiled qmail and the behavior went away. If I rm /dev/dsp /dev/audio I get the same behavior out of rvplayer except it isn't running all out. It is still stuck, but spends its time in select. Any ideas what is going on?
