Subject:   "/kernel : file : table is ful"  error ?

Sometimes when I'm running a program, it crashes and I see the error :
/kernel: file: table is full. I also got  a similar when I tried compiling
snes9x, and it suddenly just reboot my computer. The second problem may not be
related to the first, but does anyone know why I get that /kernel error ?
