I don't actually look at the stamps either, I just know when I send
one and know when it comes back.

I realize load is an issue, My data to FreeBSD.org does in fact
go through MCI SuperSlowWay.
Crusing FreeBSD for me SUXS big time during the busy times!
I usually wait untill the middle of the night PST.
(Way early in the AM for me, EST)

I was under the impression that a sending mail host contacted the
recieving mail host directly if possiable.

Thus a minute or so to send, a minute or so to recieve.
15 minutes I can see, Over an hour though! Seems a bit long.

But if your are getting 15 minute turn arounds it must be
something towards my end.

One of these days when I get brave again I'll fireup my PPP on
FreeBSD and connect to my ISP and trace the route!
No protection from outside intruders, One of these days I'll
figure out and intall wrappers or the like. :)

-Enjoy
Gary
