Usually, when you say that, I don't agree. :-)

I agree with you in this case.

I don't think the current project climate is one in which we can address
the principle people are arguing about.

So let's just stick to the specific incident and consider it "almost
resolved", given that Chad will post a patch soon and there are lots of
people ready to commit it.
