Hate is probably not the right word to use.  "get highly frustrated"
may be a better way of putting the feeling.  Also bear in mind that as
there are different distributions of linux, this influences the feel a
lot.  Maybe Debian would be an easier distribution of linux to try as
I think the feel is closer to FreeBSD (BSD) than Maybe RedHat or SuSE
(SysV).

Whichever you choose, if you have someone who knows the version you are
trying this will help ENORMOUSLY.

In both cases if you have time, take time to learn the systems, the
differences and find the similarities.
