have you considerred a DV camcoder and a laptop with a firewire interface?
for example an apple ibook, with a 300GB firewire external disk and a 
small sony DV camcorder
would do all that is required.. (A freebsd/Linux version may take a bit 
more work but
would probaby work as well).
