it is not the ups which shuts down the system it is the software which communicates with the ups and resides on the machine itself. you should find a ups which has software for freebsd or you should find a ups monitoring software first and then buy the ups supported by the software... but as far as I may tell there are many different softwares for APC smartups series. see www.exploits.org for an example ups monitoring program and you may find some other programs in the ports collection Evren "James A.
