Subject:   Unable to start XFCE4 after update

I updated my system last night (May 2) and now I cannot get "Xfce4" to
start. The "Loading" screen appears and then crashes. I captured this

I have no idea how to get this machine back up and running, which I have
to do before Monday morning. I am even stuck using a Windows PC to send
