Doug,

Yes I built mozilla from the ports, takes about 2 hours on my laptop,
less on my server.  The plugin does come with the native jdk for freebsd
in the ports, I also built this and you need the linux-jdk port
installed first then you can build from there.  It takes some time for
jdk to build, probably several hours, I usually go to work or class and
it's done when I get home.  If you build the native jdk first, then
mozilla, the mozilla port will link in the plugin automatically.  Check
out the makefile in /usr/ports/www/mozilla.  Gtk is required for both to
build, and should be installed before compilation.  

I have had no problems whatsoever with moz 1.0 rc1, java works great,
and it has never locked up since using this version. 

previous versions of mozilla were sometimes slow with dns lookups but
this seems to be fixed in rc1.
