I did a fresh install of 6.3-RELEASE using
6.3-RELEASE-alpha-disc1.iso.
Then I installed XFree86-4-Server using the ports.
After that I invoked /usr/local/bin/X, and then the
same occurs: the alpha machine was rebooted...
