Yes, but make world was done right after cvsup'ing using stable-supfile. Sources that produced these two executables didn't have any diff. Now, I did some more testing, and realized that the same build process fails sometimes, and succeeds other times. So, I think there still is possibility that the problem is with the make command, but now there is possibility that the problem is with this specific makefile of pdflib.
