I'm trying to edit FDP xml files with Emacs. I followed the instruction of FDP Primer(http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.IS= O8859-1/books/fdp-primer/editor-config-emacs.html), added several lines to m= y .emacs file. However, it seems not working(word wrap, tab stops, 8 spaces to 1tab, etc) c= orrectly. I'm using Vim right now, but I prefer Emacs for my text editing. What should I do to edit files appropriately(make documents conform to FDP g= uidelines) with Emacs? Thanks.= From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sun May 31 21:32:04 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher AECDH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id EED1CAB0 for ; Sun, 31 May 2015 21:32:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id D873A1C31 for ; Sun, 31 May 2015 21:32:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.14.9/8.14.9) with ESMTP id t4VLW47I043241 for ; Sun, 31 May 2015 21:32:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 200554] [patch] Missing word in handbook Date: Sun, 31 May 2015 21:32:04 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Component: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: fullermd@over-yonder.net X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Target-Milestone: --- X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status keywords bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter attachments.created Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 31 May 2015 21:32:05 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=200554 Bug ID: 200554 Summary: [patch] Missing word in handbook Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Keywords: patch Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Documentation Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Reporter: fullermd@over-yonder.net Keywords: patch Created attachment 157312 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=157312&action=edit Patch Word accidentally dropped from sentence in r42975. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Hmm, I am usually a vim user, but looking at the linked .emacs snippet, it seems like it only defines a hook to be used when emacs is in sgml-mode. When you are editing the FDP files, does emacs autodetect and enter sgml-mode? I thought there had been some email discussion in the past year or two about what .vmirc and .emacs config were used by various committers (which would probably also be helpful for your situation), but I cannot find it with a quick search. -Ben From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jun 1 17:36:21 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: www@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher AECDH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 64B06D8C for ; I manually enabled this mode via `M-x sgml-mode'. In this mode, `tab stops set to 2' and `8 leading spaces->single tab' worked fine, while `word wrap set to 70 chars' seems not working (this means when I exceeded the limit, there isn't any highlight I can recognize). So the problems are: 1. Not entering sgml-mode automatically 2. Word wrap set to 70 chars doesn't working Maybe I'll have to search for this mailing list more carefully.
