The problem was caused by the following changes between March 16 and March 18: /usr/ports/devel/gettext-devel --> /usr/ports/devel/gettext (0.10.40_1) /usr/ports/devel/gettext --> /usr/ports/devel/gettext-old (0.10.35_1) portupgrade, which had allowed both versions to co-exist, upgraded gettext(prechanges) to gettext (postchanges), so that you now have only 0.10.40_1. I assume going back to install gettext-old will solve the problem (soon to be tested).
