 I exeperienced failures from three different mice:
 
     --	Old Gateway-supplied Microsoft OEM mouse, label:
 
 		IntelliMouse 1.1A PS/2 Compatible
 
     --	New Gateway-supplied mouse, label:
 
 		MODEL:  MOSXK  Rev. X2
 
 	[Sorry, there's no other identification; it looks like
 	Gateway has changed OEM supplier...]
 
     --	Logitech MouseMan+, label:
 
 		MODEL:  M-CV46

 Sorry, I didn't try that earlier.  I just tested now, and it works
 correctly, as you describe.
