Are you sure it doesn't find them? What are the exact error messages?
Or are you trying to do this as a normal user? By default, distfiles are
fetched to /usr/ports/distfiles, which is only writable for root.

In order for somebody to help you with that, you'll need to provide
which graphics hardware you are using and what X server you are
running on it.
