I do not have making improvements to UUCP as a high priority for my FreeBSD work, and I'm short on time, so I can only offer you the following options: (1) Write up diffs to support this, and I'll review them (and commit them if they are OK). (2) Keep the change in there the way it is (3) Back the change out I don't want to volunteer more of my time to even do further discussion - having this change in FreeBSD is that low priority to me (I have a bunch of things to do with FreeBSD, and spending time on this means that less time go to other things).
