It has been discussed a few times, at least between Nik and myself. I think the major problem is that we have a hard enough getting people to contribute to and maintain one handbook, let alone a few that cover different versions. That doesn't even touch on trying to find someone (or multiple people) to split up what we have into version-specific handbooks -- I just don't see it happening, and at this point, it's just not all that realistic to attempt to do so. I think everyone agrees that our documentation could use some work, but I don't think splitting things up are going to make it any better. Maybe at some point down the road when we can actually keep one doc tree up-to-date we can consider branching it off into separate version trees, but as I said, I don't see that happening in the near future. - jim -- jim mock work: jim@osd.bsdi.com | jim@FreeBSD.org http://soupnazi.org/ BSDi Open Source Div | http://bsdi.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-doc" in the body of the message
