This was actually a concern I expressed in that thread: we've gone
completely off the rails several times before in an attempt to get a Grand
Architecture for FreeBSD Decomposition.  A few useful knobs sometimes goes
a long way, and is far more practical.  I think we should block the
introduction of useful knobs (especially install-knobs vs. build-knobs) on
waiting for xmlBSD. :-)
