Try http://www.freebsd.org/releases/index.html. It has release notes for
all past releases.

Primary only.

Don't know.

This depends on your BIOS, not FreeBSD. If your BIOS supports booting
from cylinders above 1024, it will be able to boot FreeBSD from there.

2.1.0 is really ancient. Even if you want to stay on the 2.1 branch, you
should probably consider 2.1.7.1. You may also want to consider 2.2.5,
if stability is your goal. It should be out in less than a month, and
should have most bugs shaken off.
