OK, the important issue (typing in Greek) can be fixed by doing: ln /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/gr /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/el This is with the following xorg.conf entries: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "kbd" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "us,el" Option "XkbVariant" ",extended" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:alt_shift_toggle" EndSection As for the libxklavier warnings, there does seem to be some incompatibility with the new Xorg, but from what I understood from googling around, it is supposed to be fixed in Gnome 2.14.
