This under the Misc section (2.5) of the Release notes for 4.2 of stuff
that is supported.

Crystal Semiconductor CS461x/462x/428x

This is changed from the release notes for 4.1.1 where it says

Most ISA audio codecs manufactured by Crystal Semiconductors, OPTi,
Creative Labs, Avance, Yamaha and ENSONIQ. (pcm driver)

What it looks like is that code was written but did not work for some
reason and code that identified the cs4281 was removed from the src. I
assume it is a genuine mistake but I think the release notes need to be
corrected
