Right.  Your mta (sendmail) is attempting a TLS connection, and the target
host requires a certificate (or something else that your end is lacking).  
Configure it to either a.) use a certificate or b.) not attempt TLS
connections.

Instead of helo, use ehlo and you'll see all the neat-o features that the
target host supports.
