Presumably not, inferring from: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/disks-virtual.html "To use mdconfig(8), you have to load md(4) module or to add the support in your kernel configuration file" But I don't run 5.x so I don't know for sure. -Chris
