You've run into a bikeshed scenario: the more inconsequential the issue, the more people are likely to have opinions about it, and feel strongly that you're wrong. Since bikeshed probabilities often decrease with a higher level of usefulness in a commit, you may find that focussing on activities with a higher usefulness measure helps with the problem. FWIW, you're not the only committer who's discovered that minor wording changes from "possibly incorrect" to "possibly correct" bite off more than they planned for :-).
