Sorry, I misunderstood you, still my argument stands, just 
replace <machine/param.h> with <sys/param.h>

It is still unclear from the documentation what should be done.

Here is the test program again.

#include <sys/param.h>
#include <sys/socket.h>

int
main(int argc, char **argv)
{
        struct msghdr msg;
        unsigned char *data;

        data = CMSG_DATA(&msg);

        return(0);
}

This does compile.
