There's been a lot of opinions and ideas expressed on this list over the last twenty four hours that seems to have side-stepped into numerous discussions. However, rather than tossing out ideas that solve problem X but do nothing about problem Y (or create problem Z) I think it would be beneficial to first decide on what functionality we are looking for in a package system. Then we can begin discussing how to best implement them. Rather than fork off another web of discussions, please email me privately what you would like to see a new package system do, and I will summarize everything and follow up tomorrow afternoon. Once a "wishlist" has been decided on, the architectural bikeshed can begin. :) Cheers! -Dan To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-arch" in the body of the message
