I was not so concerned about making the translation teams track this change on short notice (they don't). I was more worried about the new attributes adding a bunch of deltas that are not immediately distinguishable from real content changes that *do* need to be tracked. (Put it this way...you're in the middle of managing a bunch of translations, but not done yet. Suddenly you see new deltas for twenty files show up. Unless you actually look at each one of them, how do you know which ones need to be tracked and which ones do not?) > One part of this patch should be a small but important change to the > Makefile for the Release Notes web build: > > www/*/relnotes/Makefile: > - FORMATS=html\ html-split \ > + FORMATS=html \ > > The reasons should be obvious. Ah...sorry, it's not obvious to me at all. :-p On both the en_US and de_DE Web sites, it looks to me like the release documentation pages reference the html-split files, not html. So don't you mean to get rid of html? (Gratuitous comment: I don't like html-split for the release documentation because it's too hard to do intra-document searches. But that's an issue for another time.) > And once all the id attributes have been added, somebody with root > access to nwww should run a find $DOCROOT -name 'x*.html' -delete > shortly before a build. Basically, we'd do the cleanup and then immediately run a rebuild.
