For reports in the future, please respect that PREFIX can be differnt from
/usr/local or /usr/X11R6 and respect allready defined variables like CC and
CFLAGS when you patch Makefiles. for example. add %%PREFIX%% instead of 
/usr/local and replace that during post-patch with the actual content of
${PREFIX}. For defining variables like CC or CFLAGS consider using ?= or
+= as the assignment operator instead of plain =.
