The proposed rework fixes all the above. It is a compromise design between making the page useful (again) for experts, who will generally want to come to the page(s) to search, and novices, who are referred to the page from the main page of the website. As such, I do not expect that it will truly satisfy anyone. However, IMHO it is a significant improvement over the mess that is there. The prototype is at http://people.freebsd.org/~linimon/www/en/ports/. The link to the actual serach cgi is not installed but if it was it would be identical to http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/ports.cgi (unchanged). While this is the type of change that could be endlessly debated, unless there are strenuous objections I'd like to go ahead and commit what I have in a few days as at least a starting point. mcl
