PINE doesn't do POP3.  You'd have to install fetchmail in order to get
your e-mail to your UNIX mailbox, which PINE can easy do.  PINE can do
IMAP and will work for you only if your mail server supports it.

Mutt, which is another console-based e-mail reader, supports POP3.
