There is always a symlink:

/usr/X11R6/bin/X -> Xorg, or

/usr/X11R6/bin/X -> XFree86, depending on what you've got.

So, you can simply write "/usr/X11R6/bin/X" and be both 90s' and correct
WRT XFree86/Xorg.
