I always use http://xtiming.sourceforge.net. The results aren't optimal 
for some edge cases (trying to get the best refresh rate possible on a 
CRT's max resolution), but usually just fine for anything more or less 
standard, LCD's, etc. F'rinstance:

Modeline "1920x1080@60" 182.28 1920 1952 2640 2672 1080 1102 1113 1135

Is what I got just now.
