Thoughts: - 5.0 has a long time until it must be release-ready. - So far we were happy with radical changes like this (to a major part due to your work, thanks!). - Although I don't like it, C++ is still growing importance from my point of view. Any idea what the Linux folks are going to do? When they switch, we have to do it anyway (to get continued support by GNU maintainers). If we switch before them, we have the opportunity to influence the development of the GNU tools before zillions of Linuxers make noise (not saying that all Linuxers are like this). Martin P.S. I'm sticking my nose into binutils for other reasons anyway and would be available for responsive reviews. -- %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Martin Cracauer <cracauer@bik-gmbh.de> http://www.bik-gmbh.de/~cracauer/ FreeBSD - where you want to go.
