Folks, I added a "Smart And Friendly" CD-R to my SCSI chain and tried using it this afternoon. For the most part, it worked fine. But then, things took a nasty turn... I'm running, get this: chrome 201 % uname -a FreeBSD chrome.jdl.com 2.2-BETA_A FreeBSD 2.2-BETA_A #0: Tue Dec 24 03:41:49 1996 jkh@time.cdrom.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386 (I know, I know, I know. But, all this is in preparation to off-loading and upreving the whole shebang anyways... :-) Can anyone shed some light on this one? If you want the traditional complete boot message, please let me know. Here are the obviously relevant parts: Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: ncr0 <ncr 53c810 scsi> rev 2 int a irq 10 on pci0:12 Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: ncr0 waiting for scsi devices to settle Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: (ncr0:3:0): "HP HP35470A 1009" type 1 removable SCSI 2 Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: st0(ncr0:3:0): Sequential-Access Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: st0(ncr0:3:0): 5.0 MB/s (200 ns, offset 8) Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: density code 0x13, drive empty Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: (ncr0:4:0): "SAF CD-R2006PLUS 2.05" type 5 removable SCSI 2 Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: cd0(ncr0:4:0): CD-ROM Aug 14 10:47:34 chrome /kernel: cd0(ncr0:4:0): asynchronous.
