Either way would be cheaper than a controller J>card (though of course an Ultra ATA 133 controller card is a nice thing J>to have:). I already have the Promise ATA133 card. It came bundled with an 80 GB ID drive which I bought for one of my other systems; I didn't have a use for it at the time, so I stuck it in my miscellaneous hardware drawer. I generally prefer to only run ONE hard drive per IDE chain. I find that it takes a significant performance hit when you're simultaneously accessing one drive that is master, and another that is slave, on the same controller. -- Donald Burr of Borg <dburr@borg-cube.com> | FreeBSD: The Power to Serve!
