No system > accounts needed. Well, I just use a fake ~/etc and put a 'passwd' and 'group' file in there proftpd uses... The only problem I have run into is the fact that when using an alternative 'passwd' and 'group' file and also want to do anonymous FTP the 'UID' being used for anonymous FTP has to be in those 'passwd' and 'group' files. (That got me busy for a while). Other than that. Just don't run it as a 'root' deamon of course and everything should be fine.
