So you're _running_ 4.0-STABLE _and_ trying to install a more recent
4.0-STABLE?  I ask because this is a problem that people run into when
they're running 3.x and try to upgrade to 4.0.

Regardless, read the UPDATING file in your src directory.  It has the
answer to your question.
