For the last month or so, the console has been displaying this message 
about the ep0 device.  I actually have been using a Farralon NIC with 
dual transceivers, but it is essentially a 3C509.  I have never had 
trouble with the card before now.  Exactly what does this message mean, 
and what can I due about it?
