I downloaded the new ISO image from
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/
last week and burned myself a new CD. That solved the problem
for me. Granted it took longer than making a floppy but I'm
expecting to install a few more machines with 3.4 before 4.0
comes out.
