One GREAT example of something similar is python ports, that have
End-Of-Life dates set when they are initially branched.

I'd LOVE to set 'EOL' notices and dates, without DEPRECATED as soon as
the port was created.

I've noticed a nasty habit of not deprecating things long enough before
we remove them. "Oh hey, lets just set it now and kill it in a month".

In the interest of users, we can do better.
