I believe that this was because the (un)merged brgphy bits.  Is it
possible for you to use 7.2-STABLE instead?  Otherwise you will need a
patched kernel:

	http://people.freebsd.org/~delphij/misc/bce-5709phy.diff

Please make sure that you have a full kernel build.
