And most likely there are equally many FreeBSD users who are annoyed
whenever they have to touch a linux box that's it's behaving like
that... so, personally I would really like to see the old behavior
restored.

[The mail is mainly in case anybody is trying to weigh the opinion for
/ against this 'feature'.]
