Is this the case? Yes. xntpd can be both a server and a client at the same time. My settings for NetLab on the Time tab under Clock synchronization are: Time server: the name of my FreeBSD box which runs xntpd SNTP is selected. One other thought: is the freebsd box allowing the time protocol both in /etc/services and in your firewall (if any)? Check for port 37 both udp and tcp.
