Communication problem between the CPU and your drive/drive controller. Physically check cabling. Do you have other drives on the same controller, and do they work normally? Your controller may be pooched, or your drive may be pooched. Also, check the output of your power supply--noises are sometimes the result of power fluctuations from a bad connector. Make sure you haven't overloaded your P/S. All that failing, it sounds like it's time for a new drive. IDE is so cheap these days it is sometimes more effective to replace hardware and ask questions later ;-) - Ryan > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > -- Ryan Thompson Network Administrator, Accounts SaskNow Technologies - http://www.sasknow.com #106-380 3120 8th St E - Saskatoon, SK - S7H 0W2 Tel: 306-664-3600 Fax: 306-664-1161 Saskatoon Toll-Free: 877-727-5669 (877-SASKNOW) North America To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
